PROJECTS
Solo
Olivia Petryszak recorded her debut album in November 2024. With a unique lineup, including jazz upright bass, percussion, viola da gamba(s), theorbo and more, Olivia focuses her efforts in her own writing for the instrument into defying people's perceptions of what the instrument can do.

Taking influences from everything from folk music to Indian Classical music, much of Olivia's writing is heavily influenced by rhythm. Her intention through all of the music she writes, arranges, performs, or improvises, is to show the extensive possibilities of such a seemingly simple flute and prove its place on the music scene today.

Collaborations
Olivia Petryszak has gained acclaim across the UK and Europe as a forerunner in creative recorder playing, working frequently as an performer, improviser, writer and a composer in a huge variety of settings.

On a lifelong journey to improve the perception of the instrument, Olivia works hard to prove the place of the recorder in a variety of genres, and is praised for her unique sound.

Although working with a preference to be more heavily involved in the creative process now, Olivia has worked extensively and has commissioned several pieces by composers in the UK in recent years.

Loom
Olivia Petryszak, along with percussionist Jonno Gaze, make up Loom. Loom came from a desire to understand how musical influences could weave together.

2026 will see multiple residencies/recordings for the duo (and some beautiful additional collaborators!). More on that soon...
